DESCRIPTION:Watch the recording\n\nHERE\n\n\nBetween May 5 and 9\, Independent Theater Hungary organized the 8th Roma Heroes International Theater Festival in Budapest. At the festival\, British\, Italian\, Romanian\, and Hungarian Roma artists demonstrated through stand-up performances\, satirical monodramas\, live arts\, music\, and Q&A sessions how humor can become a weapon that liberates theater from the captivity of drama and victimhood.   \nThe festival’s stand-up shows and monodramas will also be available online on the HowlRound platform from September 14 to 19.  \n\nStand-up is mainly a male genre—but what are we to do when the girls of Independent Theater Hungary are tougher than anyone else? Four “harmless” chicks set the stage on fire as they win over every heart with playful ease and leave every abdominal muscle aching. Once they open their mouths and the words start pouring out\, we might just have to rethink the concept of harmlessness.
