SUMMARY:Rudolf Forgács: Gypsy\, but cool - The winning project of the Stand Up Roma call for proposals\, launched in collaboration with Trafó and the Independent Theatre Hungary.
DESCRIPTION:Tickets\nThe winning project of the Stand Up Roma call for proposals\, launched in collaboration with Trafó and the Independent Theatre Hungary. \n“Rudi doesn’t steal. Dani isn’t a terrorist. These are shocking facts\, since Rudi is half-gypsy and Dani is half-Arab.” \nRudolf Forgács is a young half-Roma\, half-Székely comedian from Transylvania who recently graduated from the Cluj-Napoca Academy of Music. He is joined by Dániel Said\, a half-Hungarian\, half-Syrian comedian\, a recurring performer at Showder Klub and Dumaszínház\, who has lived his entire life in the 8th district. \n“So Rudi is a musical gypsy\, and Dani has the Musical Gypsy Park nearby.” \nMaybe that’s why Rudi and Dani like each other. Or maybe it’s because they both want to believe they’re “normal” – whatever that means. (Probably because they don’t steal and they’re not terrorists.) \nEveryone has heard—and perhaps even said—about someone that “he’s Gypsy\, but cool!” Rudi has heard it too. About himself. These three words\, meant as a compliment\, hold surprisingly deep implications on both a personal and social level. What impact do these three words have? What does it take to overcome our prejudices\, and can we ever fully overcome them? \nThe two comedians and the audience can feel the boundaries together: what can be made into a joke and what can’t. And all this for whom? At the end of the performance\, everyone can decide for themselves what they think about the gypsy they saw on the Trafó stage\, and whether this changes their opinion of those they haven’t even met yet.” (Rudolf Forgács) \nPhoto: Máté Kalicz / Trafó
