Sándor wants to be a free filmmaker, but the Eastern European dictatorship he lives in interferes with what he can make films about. Furthermore, party politics not only determines his professional life, but also gains ground in his private life, his social relationships, and even creeps into his bedroom.
What can an artist do, chained to the oppressive system for decades through intimidation? And what can a minority that doesn’t even exist on paper do to prosper?
Warning! The System Breakers presentation contributes to expanding our historical knowledge in small ways. Don’t worry, this story won’t be in the textbooks either. At the same time, it is necessary for us to face our common past, present, and move forward.
The people and events depicted in the show are fictional, but a significant portion of the stories presented are true. The show was inspired by real people whose struggles deserve respect.
The performance deals openly with sexuality. Viewing it is not recommended for those under the age of 18 according to Hungarian law.
