Roma Heroes –European dramas book launch

Independent Theater Hungary releases Roma Heroes – Five European Dramas on European Culture Day in Goethe Institute, Budapest. We hardly know the stories and theatre of the biggest minority group in Europe, although they are present in many European countries.

The volume features stories of various Roma heroes from five different countries, from east to west, from the Second World War to the present-day Corona Virus pandemic.  The book was created with the aim of reaching as many people as possible with these stories that convey the values ​​of Roma theatre and communities to the readers. Excerpts from the plays are read out and the focus videos of the performances based on the dramas are projected at the book launch.

18:00-18:10 – Greeting by Dr. Evelin Hust, Head of Goethe Institute, Budapest
18:10-18:25 – Opening speech by Noémi Herczog
18:25-18:35 – Speech by Rodrigó Balogh, artistic director of Independent Theater Hungary

18:35-19:20 – Reading out excerpts of the five dramas and projection of the focus scenes of the performances based on the plays
19:20-19:30 – Closing
